Selamat datang, welcome, to Rijsttafel Indonesia. The Dutch word "rijsttafel" means rice table. In Indonesia it was known as Makan Besar, ‘big meal’. People sit around a plate of steamed rice with other dishes arranged around it. Those can be meats, seafood and vegetable dishes, which are always accompanied by the spicy sauce, sambal.
In the 18th and 19th century, the hungry Dutch planters added more and more dishes and that’s how the rijsttafel originated.
As there are many variations on the rijsttafel, the chef has carefully selected 25 mouth watering dishes, which include chicken, beef, pork, fish, prawns and vegetables.
All meals are served with steamed rice.
