General Information
General Curacao Shopping Information
Opening hours
Opening hours may vary, but most shops are open from Monday till Saturday from 8.30 AM – 12.00 PM and from 2.00 PM – 6.00 PM.
At official holidays all shops and banks are closed.
If it’s Sunday and a big cruise ship has docked in the harbor, most shops in the center of Willemstad are open.
Most shops accept USD and international credit cards, and in some shops you can also pay with your regular bank card. Prices are fixed and most of the time it’s not possible to return or change purchased goods.
No matter where you go, the salespeople are courteous and attentive and will effortlessly switch between English, Spanish, Dutch, and Papiamentu -- sometimes in the same conversation.
Popular shopping areas
The city's commercial center, Punda, has numerous shops offering everything from clothing to jewelry and souvenirs. Many little shops sell electronics, souvenirs, and cheaper clothing. The Heerenstraat and the Madurostraat are only accessible to pedestrians. The most important shopping street in Otrabanda -- the Breedestraat/Roodeweg -- is very crowded on Saturday mornings. On the outskirts of Willemstad, there are some elegant shopping centers such as Bloempot Shopping Center, Saliña Galleries, Promenade Shopping Center, Zuikertuin Mall and Winkelcentrum 77 at the Jan Noorduynweg.
