King's Day is celebrated in The Netherlands and Curaçao on April 27, the birthday of King Willem Alexander. This is a day of street fairs, old-fashioned games for the kids, and entertainment and merriment for the adults. Expect to see even more happy people than normal enjoying the day in downtown Willemstad and several other places on the island. If you can, wear something orange (the official color of the Dutch Royal Family) to help celebrate!
Punda (downtown Willemstad) is the epicenter of King's Day in Curacao. Here you will find a large open fair where everyone's free to sell second-hand items, a kids' fair where only children sell their old toys and such, live entertainment, displays by local dance groups, street food, and just a good old happy time.
