EXHIBITION: JJ'S LIFE MATTERED

The National Archives opened their doors to the public in collaboration with local Jazz Foundation DOJACMC (Development of Jazz and Creative Music Curacao) to a photo / multi-media exhibition, dedicated to the memory of the late Curacao Music Legend, jazz saxophonist, Mr. John James Willekes Jr (1957 – 2019), entitled: JJS Life Mattered!

According to the event organizer and co-founder of DOJACMC Foundation, Mrs. Edna Monifa Willekes-King designer “LadyMo” the purpose of the colorful, multi-media jazz exhibition is to acquaint the public with relevant historical events that her late husband, the great Curacao legendary saxophonist, John James Willekes Jr, aka “JJ COOL” was involved during the course of his life. On display visitors can view several beautiful images about the jazz legend, together with live recorded video clips of him and his bands over several decades, both locally and internationally.

DOJACMC Foundation, would like to sincerely thank the Director of National Archives, Mr. Max Scriwanek and the archivist production team, for their extraordinary art work and support in making JJS Life Mattered! a truly memorable, creative jazz artist exhibition, that will go down in history as an exhibition that “truly mattered”.
